2012 in Review

What was the best song of 2012?
My all time favorite song over the year of 2012 would be Tonight (Best You Ever Had) by John Legend. I first heard the song on the hit movie "Think Like a Man". It's a great song because it talks about how you will have the best time of your life with your significant other. This song never gets old because I know when I first heard it that I downloaded it onto my phone and seriously listened to it on repeat. I knew the whole lyrics to it by the next day because that's how often I listened to the song. This is definitely my all time favorite song of 2012.

What was the best movie of 2012?
The best movie in my opinion would be Think Like a Man. It's so hilarious and definitely never gets old. Kevin Hart (one of the actors in the film) is too funny and really makes the movie much more funnier. This was definitely a great idea to make a movie with a plot like this one. Us girls, need to know how the mind of a man works. I've learned a few tips from this movie actually. "She who controls the cookie, controls the game." In other words, don't throw yourself on the person and instead learn about who they are. If you don't understand that.. It means DON'T HAVE SEX!

What was the most important news story of the year?
The most important news story of the year to me would be the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School with the murders of 20 students both 6 & 7 years old, as well as 6 faculty members. It's really important because 26 human beings were killed.

Who was the most important person of 2012?
I honestly don't think there are any important people in the year 2012 because everybody has a purpose.  Although Barack Obama has been elected for President for the 2nd time, others have had a huge impact on this country. Because of those reasons, I cannot think of anyone who is THE most important person of 2012

My Holiday
  1. I got a lot of cool Beatles posters for Christmas! I got to repaint my room and the posters are like already hanging up on the wall. My from definitely looks like an older girl's room! It's more "hip"
  2. Make all A's for the next 3 six weeks, do all my homework, and make sure that my chores at home are done and that I don't have problems with anyone this year!
  3. The one thing i'm looking forward to for the year 2013 is that i'm one year away from graduating!!!!

Favorite Photos of 2012

I like this photo because it's a 7 smaller photos to make one bigger photo. They're all the same photos but are cropped to make the full image as if it was just one photo.

I thought this picture was the coolest! Who gets eye stitches, right? The stitches look way too cool and it even looks like a star or flower.

This picture is so pretty. I thought it was so cool how an artist decided to take his artwork to the beach to make an even bigger photo. His swirls are like so perfect it just makes it pretty!

Lytro Warm-Up

1.  When you click on the photo, it enhances the picture by adding auto focus and for people with acne problems.. It gets rid of blemishes and the redness.

2.  This camera lets you change the focus of the picture to the way you want it to be. It actually makes the camera look a little better.

3. In order for the photographer to use this camera to its full potential, you need to know that the camera is not just an ordinary device.  It can change focus and move it around so you should know to take the photos with good subjects and good backgrounds.

4. This camera is definitely worth the money.. I think this is the "dream" camera for every photographer!

Fashion

1. The changes to the models face were her lips were made a little bigger, her eyes were moved up and out a little bit, and they made her neck longer.

2. I honestly don't think so. It shows smaller girls that society doesn't like you for who you truly are.

3. Yes, If you're a model and you're going to a school to talk about something with little kids the girls are going to think oh I need to look like that. That's how you're supposed to look. That shouldn't happen at all because not everyone is created to look the same. We shouldn't be punished for something we have no control over.

4. The types of changes that are okay would be the make-up and hair part. But the parts where the make her look a certain way on a computer screen are the parts that aren't okay.

5. Fashion photography is when you're at a modeling show and you take pictures of the models walking up and down the runway. Photojournalism is when you add a story to that photo.

6. Each type of photography shows what happens when no one is paying attention. It sort of gives a reality check to certain people about some of the issues that are captured. This affects the ethical practice of each type of photography because just like that video photography can capture what people really do to make models look the way they do.

Self Portraits 1 & 2

Tips
  • Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.
  • Use props!
Environmental Portrait

I really like this picture because this is something I have to do every year for my grandpa's birthday. Since I am the only girl, I release the balloons. I like the color added to the balloons and the background  is the reason why I picked it. It really does add great effect.

I love this picture! I'm so into dance so I thought this would be perfect for me. I like the fact that she's dressed in a black dress and the last thing you would expect her to wear would be ballet slippers. I picked this image because it's definitely something different.

Photography Self Portrait

I like this picture because it's something you wouldn't think someone would do in a photo. I picked this image because it's very unique.

I've always wanted to do a photo like this! It's one of the coolest effects I had ever seen and that's why I really liked this picture (: I chose this photo because it's something I have wanted to try and it's cool to see the different ways people are doing it.

Casual Portrait

I like this picture because it shows the love of a couple and what they share between them. I chose this photo because I like where they are at and the yellow flowers definitely give the image "pop".

I like this picture because he has a small smile and his hair caught my attention.. It's so dark! I chose this image because I don't have any boys in this blog..

Plan

My plan is to shoot Sydney outside in the courtyard. I pictured her standing on a bench and like blowing a dandelion. I figured for that type of photo I could use Rule of Thirds and have her towards the right. I also had a different thought of her being in a tree and smiling. With her being in a tree, it could definitely create depth.

American Soldier (Slideshow & Captions)

1)
A. The most powerful photo is when his family is crying when they are watching him leave. It's sad because other people are upset.
B.

  • SET 1: #1-#7
  • SET 2: #8-#50
  • SET 3: #50-#70
  • SET 4: #71-#83
- I think set #2 at the Basic Training. I personally believe that set was the most powerful and difficult for Ian
C.  All photos help tell the story because each one has a role to play and they show different events that has happened. From the time that he had left to being in Iraq and returning back home to his love ones.
3)
A.
The verbs are mostly written in past tense in the text underneath the photos.  B.The text underneath enhances the photos by telling and describing what is happening in the picture above.
4)

A.

Image 18- Ian holds his bag above his head with his fellow soldier as a result of failing to complete the instructed drill on time.
Image 33- Ian heads to his new home away from home in the barracks after finishing his in-processing  earlier in the day.

Image 76- Ian's father holds up a welcome home sign above his head at Fort Carlson welcoming his son home after a 5 month deployment in Iraq.

5.

A. These other features enhance the photograph so that it is brighter and more realistic.

B. Videos are better than photographs when you want to hear what the person actually went through and not just see it. For example when Ian was getting scolded by his sergeant most people would want to hear that and not just see it.
C. Photos are better when there's something that could be left unsaid. For example when Ian was in counseling thats something some people don't want to watch.
