Intro to Newspaper Design
- The Santa Fe New Mexican because it has several completely different articles on the front. Not like a bunch of disasters or bad things. It looks interesting.
- My favorite headline is Culinary masters show off their skills at James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour dinner because it's involving food and the pictures of the the chefs preparing the food and the picture of the food by itself looks tasty.
- There are 6 stories.
- A main picture and headlines then smaller ones around it. Also they all have a title. One of the ones in Asia only has 3 stories it kind of looks like a magazine.
- How many articles they have and how many pictures they have. Fonts are different and of course names. Some titles are bigger than others and some have mainly photos on them and others have more writing.

Lenses and Photography Vocabulary
I would use a telephoto lens to shoot at a volleyball game because you can take good action photos.
I would use a prime lens to take pictures at a basketball game because once the photo is taken, it increases the sharpness and lets in a lot of light. A prime lens also enhances muscle tone, veins, and sweat which can be very good for a basketball picture.
I would use a wide-angle lens to shoot the halftime show at a football game. You want to get all of the entertainers in the photo such as the band, the dancers, and the cheerleaders.

My Favorite Cover
This is my favorite cover because Mila Kunis is so pretty! She has a great body, and she definitely grabs attention of others who read the magazine. I think a lot of girls like Starbuck's, so this grabs attention to girls because a lot of people like Mila. I just think this cover was the most interesting, and is pleasing to the eye.
Magazine Covers
Early Magazine Covers
Peterson's Women's Magazine of 1872
Cover lines began to appear within such generic covers in the later 1800s. The popular Peterson's women's magazine of 1872 uses a completely generic cover richly decorated with the leafy symmetry of Victorian embellishments, with a lovely assemblage of drawings at the bottom symbolizing the various roles of woman in the family.
The Poster Cover
Rolling Stone of 2001
Rolling Stone of 2001 could count on readers already to be thinking about the recent death of former Beatle George Harrison, and to be looking forward to the magazine's tribute. The result is a rare example of a pure poster cover without a cover line of any kind.
Pictures Married to Type
Japanese Emag of 1992
Similar examples of magazine covers where loud, colorful cover lines crowd the picture have been identified during this time from Australia, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Mexico, Sweden, Canada, and India. Strong, large, loud, colorful cover lines that compete with powerful photographs -- became a worldwide phenomenon in the magazines of the millennium.
In the Forest of Words
Vanity Fair of 2001
The images are no longer in the foreground. Cover lines appear in front of the cover models, covering significant parts of their images. We see these beautiful people through the cover lines that surround them, as if they were in the bushes and the bushes were made of words. These are pictures of people who are immersed; at this instant, they are immersed in the topics of the magazine's articles, in the form of cover lines.

2012 in Review
What was the best song of 2012?
My all time favorite song over the year of 2012 would be Tonight (Best You Ever Had) by John Legend. I first heard the song on the hit movie "Think Like a Man". It's a great song because it talks about how you will have the best time of your life with your significant other. This song never gets old because I know when I first heard it that I downloaded it onto my phone and seriously listened to it on repeat. I knew the whole lyrics to it by the next day because that's how often I listened to the song. This is definitely my all time favorite song of 2012.
What was the best movie of 2012?
The best movie in my opinion would be Think Like a Man. It's so hilarious and definitely never gets old. Kevin Hart (one of the actors in the film) is too funny and really makes the movie much more funnier. This was definitely a great idea to make a movie with a plot like this one. Us girls, need to know how the mind of a man works. I've learned a few tips from this movie actually. "She who controls the cookie, controls the game." In other words, don't throw yourself on the person and instead learn about who they are. If you don't understand that.. It means DON'T HAVE SEX!
What was the most important news story of the year?
The most important news story of the year to me would be the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School with the murders of 20 students both 6 & 7 years old, as well as 6 faculty members. It's really important because 26 human beings were killed.
Who was the most important person of 2012?
I honestly don't think there are any important people in the year 2012 because everybody has a purpose. Although Barack Obama has been elected for President for the 2nd time, others have had a huge impact on this country. Because of those reasons, I cannot think of anyone who is THE most important person of 2012
My Holiday
- I got a lot of cool Beatles posters for Christmas! I got to repaint my room and the posters are like already hanging up on the wall. My from definitely looks like an older girl's room! It's more "hip"
- Make all A's for the next 3 six weeks, do all my homework, and make sure that my chores at home are done and that I don't have problems with anyone this year!
- The one thing i'm looking forward to for the year 2013 is that i'm one year away from graduating!!!!
Favorite Photos of 2012
I like this photo because it's a 7 smaller photos to make one bigger photo. They're all the same photos but are cropped to make the full image as if it was just one photo.
I thought this picture was the coolest! Who gets eye stitches, right? The stitches look way too cool and it even looks like a star or flower.
This picture is so pretty. I thought it was so cool how an artist decided to take his artwork to the beach to make an even bigger photo. His swirls are like so perfect it just makes it pretty!
