Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens to shoot at a volleyball game because you can take good action photos.

I would use a prime lens to take pictures at a basketball  game because once the photo is taken, it increases the sharpness and lets in a lot of light. A prime lens also enhances muscle tone, veins, and sweat which can be very good for a basketball picture.

I would use a wide-angle lens to shoot the halftime show at a football game. You want to get all of the entertainers in the photo such as the band, the dancers, and the cheerleaders.

Vocabulary

Depth of Fielddistance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image.
Light- amount of light you want for taking a picture, to add desired effect on photos
ShadowsA shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object.
Diffusion- softening of sharp outlines in a photographic image
Exposure- amount of light allowed to fall on each area unit of a photographic medium (photographic film or image sensor) during the process of taking a photograph
Aperturehole or an opening through which light travels
Shutter Speeddetermines the amount of light that reaches the film or sensor
ISO-measure of a photographic film's sensitivity to light, determined by sensitometry and measured on various numerical scales
