Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens to shoot at a volleyball game because you can take good action photos.

I would use a prime lens to take pictures at a basketball  game because once the photo is taken, it increases the sharpness and lets in a lot of light. A prime lens also enhances muscle tone, veins, and sweat which can be very good for a basketball picture.

I would use a wide-angle lens to shoot the halftime show at a football game. You want to get all of the entertainers in the photo such as the band, the dancers, and the cheerleaders.

Vocabulary

Depth of Fielddistance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image.
Light- amount of light you want for taking a picture, to add desired effect on photos
ShadowsA shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object.
Diffusion- softening of sharp outlines in a photographic image
Exposure- amount of light allowed to fall on each area unit of a photographic medium (photographic film or image sensor) during the process of taking a photograph
Aperturehole or an opening through which light travels
Shutter Speeddetermines the amount of light that reaches the film or sensor
ISO-measure of a photographic film's sensitivity to light, determined by sensitometry and measured on various numerical scales

The 7 News Values in the News

Timeliness  -- the newness of the facts.
Proximity – the nearness of a given event to your place of publication.
Prominence – the “newsworthiness” of an individual, organization or place.
Impact – the effect or consequence of an event on the audience.
Conflict – the meeting of two or more opposing forces. These forces can be physical, emotional or philosophical.
Human Interest – the drama the surrounds people involved in an emotional struggle.
Novelty – the attraction people have to unusual things and events. 

Headlines

Timeliness- South Korea and U.S Gird for Missile Test by North Korea. The article is timeliness because South Korea is warning the U.S that it will do a missile test on Tuesday.
ProminencePutin held on Finland's criminal blacklist by 'mistake'. The article is prominent because Putin is Russia's President.


ProximityAISD police: Teacher sexually assaulted first-grader .. There is proximity due to the fact that Blazier Elementary is at the most 3 minutes away from my house. 

ImpactNuclear Plant in Japan Has Leak in Other Tank. The article is impact because Japan's nuclear reactor they had built started leaking due to an accident and is spewing radioactive date.

ConflictGunman Kills Policeman Guarding Polio Workers in Pakistan. The article is conflict because it involves a man killing a police officer.
Human InterestCouple’s 83 years of marriage ends with wife’s death Couple’s 83 years of marriage ends with wife’s death. This story involves human interest because there are plenty of people who are interested in the love lives of others, and because this couple was believed to have been married the longest in the country, it grabs a lot of attention. 

NoveltyCompromise Is Proposed on Western Wall Praying. This article is novelty because people in America are thinking of praying the same way as people do in Jerusalem which isn't common in America.
