Unusual and Interesting Photos Part 2

  1. I picked this photo because it adds huge effect on her skin. it shows every detail and definitely brings out her eyes and red lipstick.
  2. Local Portrait and Personality
  3. 1st Place award
  4. He had the flash on which made her eyes very blue.
  5. The subject must have gotten a 9 or 10, it's an incredible photo it deserves such a high number
  6. He definitely had to put more makeup on her skin to make her face look highly detailed.
  1. I picked this photo because the whole background looks detailed.
  2. Sports Action
  3. Honorable Mention Award
  4. The photographer was at an angle which captured everything
  5. This photography must have gotten an 8 or 9 because of the quality of the picture and the background. Plus, it's an action photo.
  6. The photographer definitely had to get a perfect angle in order to get this picture the way it is.
  1. I picked this photo because it's edited in grayscale.
  2. Photojournalist of the Year
  3. 3rd Place award
  4. The gallons and the cross looks really good in this photo. The quality is so good, it had nice touches.
  5. I think this picture got at least a 7 because it's not the best photo but it definitely had some major points that grabbed my attention.
  6. The photographer must have took several photos to make it to this lovely portrait. It was a great idea to put the black and white effect.

Unusual and Interesting Photos Part 1

I like this type of work, the only trick is you can really only do this too specific pictures. For instance all of the photos are mainly tall buildings or tall objects but these pictures are pretty raw. From looking eat these photos it looks like he messed with about 4 of the same photos and cropped them an put them all together to make one. Some good buildings for this type of work would definitely be downtown north austin like the Frost Bank tower, The Capitol, and most of the other buildings down town. And that one skyscraper the Burj Khalifa would definitely be a good picture.

Photo Manipulation & Ethics

There was a photographer who went to view her pictures but found that it was manipulated with. The site used was "Adobe Photoshop" and can be used to change people in pictures, almost as if copy and paste pretty much. When people send their pictures to "big" people like the newspaper or some sort of magazine, they get caught at least a week later. Once each photographer got caught, they lost there job. In other words, don't use photoshop because it will cost you your job & people will know who messed with the photos. I believe that photo editing is highly unacceptable because it's not the real picture. In photography, you're suppose to catch those moments that seem real to you, that have some sort of meaning. It's obviously not real anymore if you have to photoshop or photo edit the pictures.

This picture is very unethical because there really is no point with the extra darkness on the picture. they used a spotlight sort of effect which honestly I think is very useless.

I feel that this picture is somewhat acceptable because it's just the pyramids have been scooted a little closer. None of the facts have changed, but it's not obvious at all. Atleast they didn't 'delete' a pyramid.

National Geographic Warm-Up

this is my favorite picture because I love dolphins! the water looks really cool coming from the snout. the background adds a nice effect because it's not too bright nor too dull.

A photo I would submit would be one of black people doing stuff that white people do because I want everyone to know that anyone can do anything.

Touching Strangers

I’m ambivalent at the weirdness of touching strangers.  it's strange because they seem like they are so close with each other to be touching legs, and hands. they smile like it's no big deal. I honestly would probably participate in the shooting if the person that asked didn't seem like much of a creeper.  I would be shocked, but hey at least they had the nerve to come up to me and ask right? A photo shoot that I think will be fun to shoot is umm, trying to make ugly faces and having the person laugh. It would be fun because it sounds like it would be a good time. I think the photos are great! I enjoy looking at them. You can see a connection between the two people in the photo so it doesn't seem as awkward .

40 Greatest Photos Taken

-Aaron Thompson
I picked this photo because it's a little boy who's taking the flag from his father's memorial. the photographer made a great shot by the angle. the lieutenant has his right hand on the flag. the little boy looks like he's trying to be strong, but is obviously upset. I believe this photographer made the top 40 because it shows a boy being strong for his dad at the memorial service. it has our nation's flag, and they are both suited up which makes the picture look nice.

-Vanderlei Almeida
I picked this photo because it's a dog next to a buried grave. i think it's so sad because all the other graves are emptied and the dog stays laying next to the grave. the photographer made this an excellent photo because there are very little color which makes the cross and dog easier to spot. this photo in my opinion made the top 40 because it's genuine and sincere to have a dog laying next to a grave.

-Rich Lam
I picked this photo because it's so cute! a couple laying together because the girl got knocked down by one of the guards. it shows that he cares. the photographer made this a great photo because it has the main focus on the couple while everything else is blurred out. all the police guards in the back add a nice touch to the photo because it shows that the situation they are in is very serious. I can see why this photo made the top 40 because not only is it romantic, but it's powerful. girls like to see this kind of photography. (:
